Thursday Night Ring Wars

Worcester, Mass. - The Centrum Centre
Attendance: 14,358
Rating: 3.29

TV Title Round 2: Shawn Stasiak made Yokozuna submit to an ankle lock in 0:14:36. (-**)
Yoko had the advantage in this battle, size and power-wise. However, a costly mistake gave Stasiak the win. A botched Banzai Drop hurt Yokozuna's ankle, and allowed Shawn to catch his breath. Stasiak caught him in an ankle-lock for the win.

TV Title Round 2: The Patriot and Rick Rude battled to a double countout in 0:15:34. (*)
Rude and Patriot slugged it out in the ring, and tumbled into the crowd quickly. The two were both counted out, and thus, eliminated from the tournament. Neither man was interested in the decision - they continued brawling to the back.

TV Title Round 2: Brakus pinned Derek Boyer after a power bomb in 0:10:31. (-**)
Brakus and Boyer tested each others' strength in a clash of the two most powerful men in CCW. Boyer was stronger, but Brakus' experience gave him the win over the greener Strongman from Fiji. Brakus will face Shawn Stasiak in the TV Title finals next week.

Heavyweight Round 3: Davey Boy Smith pinned Hakushi with the Running Powerslam in 0:18:51. (**** 1/4)
The Bulldog and The White Angel put on the CCW's best match to date. The balance of power went back and forth, and the Bulldog trapped Hakushi in a running powerslam to advance, and none too soon - he got the pin with just over a minute left before time would expire.

Heavyweight Round 3: Diesel pinned Sycho Sid with the Jack-Knife in 0:18:13. (-**** 1/4)
It was anyone's guess who would walk away victorious - but Diesel survived the battle. The two mostly brawled up and down the aisle, and the Power Warrior even came out to watch Diesel. Neither man noticed - but Diesel got into it with Warrior post-match. Sid interjected, and the three had to be separated.

Lex Luger made Ahmed Johnson submit to the Torture Rack in 0:12:15. (DUD)
Another battle of powerhouses took place, with the cockier Luger challenging the Pearl River Powerhouse. Johnson had the upper hand for the majority of the match, but Lex pulled out the Torture Rack, and held Johnson up for nearly three minutes. Unable to escape, Ahmed gave in.

La Parka pinned Taka Michinoku with the Twisting Bodyblock in 0:16:45. (*** 1/2)
Parka and Taka flew high, but Parka was able to bring down the Japanese star to gain a valuable victory.

Tag Team Finals: No-Time-Limit-No-Countout-Match for the vacant CCW Tag Team Titles: The Dudley Boyz defeated The New Age Outlaws when D-Von pinned Billy Gunn with the Flying Legdrop in 0:22:09. (3/4*)
This match pulled out all the stops. Both teams wanted the titles badly, and it showed. Most of the match actually took place without a referee - ref Alan Carey was knocked out three times! The Outlaws would have won with their Hotshot, but without a ref, the Dudleys rallied to victory when D-Von caught Mr. Ass with a flying legdrop.

(The Dudley Boyz won the CCW Tag Team Titles.)
